Tassili n’Ajjer & Sefar

Day 1: ALGIERS – DJANET
Arrival by late morning. Transfer and check-in at the guesthouse. Afternoon visit to the oasis for a first immersion in the Saharan atmosphere.


Day 2: DJANET – TAMRIT
Early morning departure toward the base of the Tassili plateau. After preparation, a slow one-hour hike begins, climbing up to the first plateau known as Akbe Tufihlet. After a short break, the journey continues across the plateau to reach Tamrit. Camp is set up upon arrival. In the afternoon, explore the area and discover the first prehistoric rock paintings.


Day 3: TAMRIT – SEFAR
Early morning departure to one of the most exceptional sites in the Tassili — both for its stunning landscapes and its concentration of prehistoric art. On the way, stop to visit the rock art site of Inatinen. In the afternoon, continue exploring this open-air museum. Overnight bivouac at Sefar.


Day 4: SEFAR – ZIN TAZARIFT
After breakfast, leave Sefar. In addition to its magnificent rock paintings, the area offers surreal mineral formations that feel like walking through a petrified landscape. Lunch en route. A two-hour hike leads to the rock art sites of Tini Taneffest, with a stop at the highest vantage point on the route — offering panoramic views of the vast Albian plain in the distance. Overnight bivouac at Tintuzarift.


Day 5: TINTUZARIFT – TIMZOUNAYTOK – TAMSIT – DJANET
After visiting the Tintuzarift rock art site, the trail heads back toward Tamsit. Stop along the way at Timzounaytok, known for its remarkable prehistoric art. Return to Djanet in the afternoon. Half-board accommodation provided at the guesthouse.


Day 6: DJANET
Today’s itinerary includes a visit to the local palm grove, the famous “Crying Cow” rock engraving, the Grotto of the Ambassadors, and an excursion to the dunes of Tahart. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel.


Day 7: DJANET – ALGIERS
Return flight to Algiers.
